film includes excerpts
from some of the
world’s most celebrated
productions of La
Traviata; The Royal
Opera House with
American soprano
Renée Fleming
in the lead role,
Angela Gheorghiu
as Violetta Valéry
at the Teatro alla
Scala di Milano,
and the Salzburg
Festival’s production
starring Anna Netrebko.

the end of each
section, interviews
with members of
the Hong Kong public
give an insight
into their response
to the opera. All
speaking in The

in Cantonese, with
the opera being
sung in Italian.
